And came out with this adorable rag quilt that we can take him home in. But then as i was looking at all the fabric left over i thought how cute would it be to have a coordinating Car seat Canopy.
So i whipped one up with a couple of accents to make it my own.
First i added these stars. I love raw edges. They make it feel more boyish to me. I looked through my stash of buttons. Being that i didn't want to spend any more money than i had already done on the fabric, and what do you know i couldn't find ONE that i liked. But i did find these two clear ones.
I had some extra fabric that coordinated with the line, used my favorite Modge Podge and adhered them to the back of the button and sewed them on.
Then it came to finding some way to attach it to the car seat. I had no Velcro.... crap. I had some extra fabric that i love and made a sleeve. Then i threaded grosgrain ribbon through.

After threading the ribbon through i measured it out to the perfect length
for the bows, and sewed them on to the canopy.
I am so excited for this little combo, that whipped up quite nicely. I spent about $30.oo on fabric and tried to use everything else that i already had on hand. LOve iT!!!

Oh. My. That is amazingly cute! I love it. I need to start quilting and I think you should teach me! I love the stars and that fabric is PERFECT. So cute for a little boy. Now all we need is his cute little face to be here! Can't wait!
That blanket is so cute. Hey I don't know if you got my email to add me to your family blog but its ahoggan_16@yahoo.com
can't wait to see a pic of your new baby!!
I love it! You are so good at picking out cute cute fabric. How do you make rag quilts?
SO CUTE! I love rag quilts! I've been looking for cute fabric everywhere! I want to buy some, but how did you buy yours? Online or in a store? That website only sells by the bolt right? Thanks for sharing this!! :)
i bought this line in St. George, before i found a store that carried it i bought it off etsy.com for a pretty good price. Rag quilts are the easiest quilt but just time consuming. A lot of cutting and sewing in stages. Here is a website that explains how to make it. http://www.lovetosew.com/ragquilt.com. Thanks for all the nice comments.
SO SO SO SO cute! I love it.
I love how it turned out! I think you should make me one for the next baby. Give me a call I haven't talked to ya forever! Hope your doing good. Sorry about the kids being sick. We have all been sick for over a month so I know it's no fun.
♥ it Cass!
Way cute! Love the fabric!
How much fabric did you get? The last one that I made I bought WAY too much fabric. I had enough for 2 blankets plus still some left over. I never size things right.
I bought a 1/4 or a yard of each material, except the two i made the canopy out of. That i bought a yard and a 1/4. Don't forget that you have to buy more fabric for the back. a yard usually works for a blanket that size. It was 4o inches by 40 inches. I know i have a hard time buying the right amount of fabric too.
